Conical Idler

Structure:

The conical idler is mainly composed of a conical roller body, bearings, bearing seats, and a shaft. The roller body is conical with different diameters at both ends; usually, the larger diameter end is on the inside, and the smaller diameter end is on the outside.

Features:

●Strong anti-deviation capability: Utilizing the conical structure, when the conveyor belt deviates, due to the different diameters of the two ends of the idler, there is a difference in the linear velocity at the contact point with the conveyor belt, thereby generating a force that makes the conveyor belt return to its original position and achieving automatic deviation correction.

Good wear resistance: It is made of wear-resistant materials, such as high-quality steel or with wear-resistant coatings. Polyurethane and other materials with excellent wear resistance can also be used, which can withstand the impact and friction of materials and prolong the service life.

Superior self-lubrication: It has good self-lubrication performance, no need for frequent oiling, and is not easy to get stuck in harsh environments, which can reduce maintenance workload and costs.

Wide adaptability: It can work in an ambient temperature range of -40℃ to 90℃, can withstand repeated impacts and vibrations, and is suitable for various harsh working conditions.

Working Principle:

Centering principle: When the conveyor belt deviates to one side, it will come into contact with either the large end or the small end of the conical idler. Due to the different linear velocities of the large and small ends, the friction force generated at the contact point will drive the idler frame to rotate at a certain angle around the rotating shaft, making the idler plane form an angle with the center line of the conveyor belt, thereby generating a lateral force that forces the conveyor belt to return to normal operation and achieving automatic centering.

Force balance principle: During normal operation, the forces exerted by the conveyor belt on the conical idlers on both sides are balanced, and the idlers remain stationary. Once the conveyor belt deviates, the pressure on the idler on the deviated side increases, and the generated friction force also increases, breaking the original force balance and prompting the conveyor belt to move to the other side to restore the balanced state.

Mining industry: It is widely used in the transportation of ores in coal mines, metal mines, and other mines. It can adapt to the underground environment with humidity, dust, and corrosive gases, as well as the transportation requirements of heavy loads and high speeds, effectively preventing the conveyor belt from deviating and ensuring the smooth transportation of ores.
