Do you know what types of cleaners are commonly used?

Cleaners are primarily used to remove material residue from the belt to keep the belt surface clean and improve the overall efficiency of the system. Depending on the installation location and functional requirements, cleaners can be divided into several types: primary cleaners, secondary cleaners, and empty section cleaners. The following details the characteristics of these three types of cleaners and their application scenarios.

One Cleaner (Head Cleaner)

Definition: A cleaner, also known as a head cleaner, is primarily used to perform initial cleaning of material immediately after it has been unloaded from the belt.

How it works: Remove most of the residual material attached to the surface of the return belt by direct contact or by using a tool such as a scraper.

Installation position: Usually located in the head area of the conveyor, specifically below the horizontal line of the drive pulley. The choice of this location helps to maximize the use of gravity to aid the cleaning process.

Effect: It can effectively remove about 60%-80% of the residue on the conveyor belt working surface, laying the foundation for subsequent more thorough cleaning.

Two-lane cleaner (middle cleaner)

Definition: The second cleaner, also known as the middle cleaner, is mainly tasked with further detailing the surface of the belt after one sweep.

How it works: Adopt a finer design, such as a brush made of soft material or a specially shaped scraper, to reduce the wear and tear on the belt itself and achieve better cleaning results.

Installation location: generally installed on the lower surface of the return belt below the discharge drum, within about 5 meters behind the unloading point in the middle of the belt; Or around 2/3 of the length of the entire belt conveyor body. This layout ensures good cleaning even over long distances.

Effect: When used with a cleaner, the overall cleaning efficiency can be increased to more than 90%, which significantly improves the work efficiency and product quality of the production line.

Empty section cleaner (tail cleaner)

Definition: An empty section cleaner, also known as a tail cleaner, is designed to deal with any debris that may be present in the non-working area at the end of the belt conveyor.

How it works: Dust particles and other small objects that accumulate in this area are easily removed through a simple but effective mechanical design, such as a rotating brush or other form of scraping device.

Installation position: located at the front end of the reversing drum, that is, near the tail end of the belt conveyor. This is often one of the places where dirt accumulates, so it requires special attention.

Results: Although its range of action is relatively small, it is essential to prevent contaminants from entering the next production step, thus ensuring the smooth operation of the entire system.

Different types of cleaners are responsible for cleaning in a specific area and work together to complete the overall maintenance of the entire conveyor system. Choosing and placing these pieces of equipment correctly can not only extend the life of your belt, but also greatly improve productivity.
