Key Part Inspection of Roller Groups: The Key to Ensuring Efficient Operation of Conveyor Systems

In a belt conveyor system, the roller group serves as a core component that supports the conveyor belt and materials. Its operating status directly affects the efficiency, energy consumption, and safety of the entire conveyor system. Failures of the roller group may not only cause conveyor interruptions but also trigger chain problems such as conveyor belt wear and deviation. Therefore, regular inspection of its key parts is of great importance. The key inspection parts of the roller group mainly focus on three modules: bearings, sealing devices, and roller bodies. Each part must be inspected in accordance with precise technical standards and procedures.

Conveyor Roller

Bearings are the "power core" of the roller group, and their wear level and lubrication status directly determine the service life of the roller group. During inspection, the sensory judgment method is first adopted: rotate the roller body by hand. If the rotation feels smooth without jamming or obvious abnormal noise, the bearing is operating normally; if there is jamming or a "rustling" abnormal noise, there may be problems such as ball wear or dry lubricating grease. Subsequently, professional tools are used for further inspection: a vibration meter is used to measure the bearing vibration value. Generally, the vibration velocity under no-load condition is required to not exceed 4.5mm/s. If it exceeds the standard, the bearing needs to be disassembled to check for defects such as cracks and spalling on the inner and outer rings. At the same time, a temperature detector is used to monitor the bearing operating temperature. Under normal working conditions, the temperature should be lower than 70℃. Abnormal temperature rise usually indicates lubrication failure or over-tight bearing assembly.


The sealing device is the "protective barrier" of the roller group, and its main function is to prevent impurities such as dust and moisture from entering the interior of the bearing. When inspecting the sealing device, it is necessary to focus on checking the integrity and fit of the sealing parts: observe whether the sealing ring is deformed, cracked, or aged. If there is damage to the edge of the sealing ring, it must be replaced immediately to prevent impurities from entering. For the labyrinth seal structure, it is also necessary to check whether the seal cavities are aligned; misalignment will lead to seal failure. In addition, the tightness of the seal cover can be checked by pressing it. If it is too loose, the seal cover is prone to falling off; if it is too tight, it will increase the bearing operation resistance and affect the rotation flexibility of the roller group.

Conveyor Roller

As the part in direct contact with the conveyor belt, the surface condition and roundness accuracy of the roller body have a significant impact on the operation stability of the conveyor belt. During the inspection of the roller body, first, visually inspect the surface for scratches, dents, or rust. If there is damage with a depth exceeding 0.5mm on the surface, it will accelerate the wear of the conveyor belt, and the roller body needs to be repaired or replaced in a timely manner. Meanwhile, a dial indicator is used to measure the roller body roundness error. The standard requires that the roundness error does not exceed 0.3mm. If the error is too large, it will cause radial runout of the roller during operation, leading to conveyor belt deviation and affecting the material conveying accuracy.


The inspection of the key parts of the roller group is a crucial link in the maintenance of the conveyor system. Through accurate inspection and timely maintenance of bearings, sealing devices, and roller bodies, the failure rate of the roller group can be effectively reduced, its service life can be prolonged, and the continuous, efficient, and safe operation of the conveyor system can be ensured, providing strong support for the stable development of industrial production.
