Snub pulley, also named wrap angle pulley, is a passive conveyor pulley widely used on belt conveyors. It is installed beside the head drive pulley on the return belt side.
The pulley barrel is fabricated from thick carbon steel plate. Two surface options are available: smooth bare steel or rubber lagging (diamond pattern rubber lagging is the most popular for anti-slip). It is assembled with heavy-duty bearing housings and solid shaft, delivering stable rotation under continuous heavy load.
1. Increase the wrap angle of conveyor belt around the drive pulley, enlarge friction between belt and drive pulley.
2. Effectively prevent belt slippage under heavy load, dusty or wet working conditions.
3. It is a non-powered pulley, it cannot adjust belt tension or transmit driving power.
Snub pulley is mounted at the conveyor head section, adjacent to the drive pulley. By rerouting the return belt, it extends the contact area between belt and drive pulley.
Commonly matched with belt conveyors for mining, quarry, cement plant, port, grain and bulk material handling. It works together with drive pulley, take-up pulley, bend pulley and conveyor idlers.
